Feb. 21, 2007 – committee meeting – Fifteen committee members present; 10-15 community members present.  Terry Fluke (Chair) opened meeting.  All committee members introduced themselves and Terry handed out an info packet from Warren Vaughan (county planner).  She briefly recapped her meeting with Warren and Jim Loessberg (chair of Reece Creek zoning committee) and stated that Warren (or another planner) will attend all of our future meetings.  She will invite Jim to speak to us, hopefully at our next meeting.  That meeting will be on March 21st, since the community center is not available on the 7th and several committee members will be unavailable as well.

Committee assignments were made as follows:  Dick Shockley will be a vice-chair, in Terry’s absences. Kerri Payne will serve as treasurer (will set up bank account and PO Box for our group). Kerri & Terry Fluke will be designated “signers” for our group.   Margaret Jarrett will serve as secretary.  Siobhan Peters & Doug Marshall will work on a preliminary mission statement.  Christie Francis & EJ Engler will work on a survey (which will determine if we have enough interest in the community to move forward with a neighborhood plan).  Committee members approved assignments.

We discussed setting up a website where minutes, maps, news, comments & contacts, fund raising info, etc. can be posted.  Diane Volkersz will look into finding someone to design and implement a webpage for us, hopefully, for free or low cost.  In the meantime, notices will be posted at the community center, the store, and possibly at the post office, as well as on the community center’s website: www.gallatingatewaycommunitycenter.com  .  We also discussed some fund raising ideas (county support, grants, donations), since mailings, especially, will be expensive.  We may try to coordinate our efforts with other community events.

The final portion of the meeting was spent selecting boundaries that our Neighborhood Plan will encompass.  Dick Shockley voted to accept the boundaries, Dick DeBernardis seconded the motion, and the rest of the committee agreed.  The GIS office will provide us another working map which shows the new boundaries.  Our group is formally known as the “Gallatin Gateway Neighborhood Planners”.  Terry closed the meeting.
